Thank you for your question. This flooring has a Tongue and groove joint system, so it does not click together and will need to be glued. it can be glued directly to a flat concrete sub-floor, or alternatively you can lay it as a floating floor by using a wood glue on the T&G joints, and laying the flooring on top of a suitable underlay.
This means that the product can be used in areas where the flooring may get wet, however extra care needs to be taken. By this we mean that the flooring needs to be sealed where any standing water may get underneath, which would be where the expansion gap is left around the perimeter of the room. You can seal the floor by applying a silicone sealant around the expansion gap, which can be hidden underneath a beading.
We sell a sealant designed for this purpose which you can find on the link below.
You can sweep or vacuum your oiled floors as often as you need. You can purchase specially formulated cleaners for oiled floors but do not use ”all-purpose” cleaners on your oiled floors as they tend to leave a dull residue and you end up using too much water, which is damaging to the oiled surface and finish.
Any engineered wood floor must be installed with an underlay, even if your sub-floor is brand new and perfectly flat.
Underlays can help to prevent moisture rising from the sub-floor, disguise small lumps and bumps and help to reduce the sound of footsteps on top of your new floor.
